become member of the International Ornithologists' Union

Postby JuanMasello » Fri Sep 11, 2015 5:37 am

Dear all,

as most of you surely know, the Parrot Researchers Group (PRG) was appointed Working Group Psittaciformes (WGP) of the International Ornithologists' Union (IOU) in 2013.

Thus, it is my pleasure to announce the new web page of the IOU:

http://www.internationalornithology.org/

The web page contains interesting/useful material and more is planned to be added soon. Regular updates are also foreseen.

Also, the new IOU web page allows everyone to become member of the International Ornithologists' Union:

https://www.internationalornithology.or ... ation.aspx

I think very important and a great opportunity for our future as researchers to become IOU members. Here, I would like to encourage all of you to join the IOU. Different very affordable (from $15 per year) fees apply:

https://www.internationalornithology.or ... ation.aspx

You can learn about the benefits of the IOU Membership at:

http://www.internationalornithology.org/benefits.html

Regarding active WGP members who won't be able to pay the full IOU membership fee, there is a reduced fee for them. Also, senior members of the IOU already offered to sponsor the membership fee of active PRG members that won't be able to pay for themselves. In such cases, please, get in touch with me. I will also be able to sponsor one of you if needed.

Please, do not hesitate to contact me for any related questions.

All the best, JUAN

Dear all,

I wanted to mention that the new IOU web page now offers the option to purchase a gift membership for someone else e.g. your students, your friends, colleagues which cannot afford to pay for the membership, etc.

For this follow this link:

https://www.internationalornithology.or ... ation.aspx

Please, select the appropriate categories, then press "continue", and in the following page select:

"This is a gift membership"

In this way, and Email with a welcome letter will be sent to the new member while an Email with a receipt will be sent only to you. The system does not tell the person receiving the gift membership what the name of the person giving it is. In this way, you can make an anonymous gift to support your colleagues work.

I think this tool can be particularly useful to support the IOU membership of colleagues which cannot afford to pay for it. In this way, we work together to build a community of researchers working together for birds and also for people.

I look forward to your comments and involvement.

All the best, JUAN
